Year of the Tiger
Description
Vanuatu Post is proud to recognise the Year of the Tiger and issue its first stamps in the Chinese Lunar calendar. This is partially to commemorate the attendance at the World Expo in Shanghai in May this year but also to recognise the contribution made by the resident Chinese population in the Republic.
Tiger people are natural born leaders and symbolise power, passion and daring. Optimistic, passionate and independent, they are also sensitive, given to deep thinking and capable of great sympathy. The Tiger is said to be lucky, vivid, lively and engaging, and are generally well liked because of their charming personalities. A key attribute of the Tiger however, is incredible bravery, evidenced in their willingness to engage in battle with undying courage. Tigers are fond of competition and simply cannot pass up a challenge. The Chinese say having a Tiger in the house is the very best protection against the evils of fire, burglary and ghosts.
Year of the Tiger date stampOn the other hand those born under the sign of the Tiger can be extremely short-tempered. Other people have great respect for them, but sometimes Tiger people come into conflict with older people or those in authority. They sometimes cannot make up their minds, which can result in poor, hasty decisions or a sound decision arrived at too late.
They may appear cool and are unpredictable, and it would be unwise to underestimate their reactions. Being intelligent, alert, and farsighted they make good strategists and tacticians and often have a hidden agenda. As long as they do not risk their luck too often, and keep their restless nature under control, they will enjoy success and happiness. They are blessed with flexibility and often recover quickly from illness or pain.
Tigers who thrive on chance and unpredictabilty are best suited to navigating the many upheavals predicted in the year ahead. Those compatible with the Tiger — the Dragon, Horse and Dog — may also find 2010's erratic circumstances inspiring them to ever bolder action, and ultimate success.
